CAB2E Opty 148 OC wierdness

I have a CAB2E Opty 148 and can prime over 8 hours at 2825MHz but my computer will reboot after ~10min when I play Battlefield 2. I have brought it down to 2700MHz and it runs BF2 fine. I'm inclined to think I may have a power or heat issue. 2825MHz 1.6v = load temp of 58c, I know that is hot but I'm looking to find the limits of my chip so I can find a stable medium. Any ideas?

Sounds like a Ram problem try changeing to slacker timeings or a different divider.

PSU. About 99.99% percent sure. The simulataneous load of CPU and GPU is too much I think.

I'm with him, most likely a psu problem.

The blue storm only has 14a on 12v I think.. It could be it.

Do you really need that much core voltage? I just received my 146 CAB2E 0540 FPMW today and are running it 2800 MHz at 1.36v (stock, auto) Load temp is hitting right around 50C with XP-90/AS5 (will drop when curing occurs).

In some instances adding Vcore is not the reason for raising the clock. I had a 130nm Clawhammer 3500+ that actually clocked higher by undervolting the cpu. Increasing the voltage simply caused too much heat causing the problem....

I have found that Usually if you can Prime, but get other problems, ie; games etc, it is the cpu being starved of needed voltage.
I probably shouldn't say this, but I have less faith in Prime95 then I do Super PI 32M.

did you test prime with large or small fft?

my computer can run large for days but can't run small for 2 seconds at some settings.

I agree my 148 cab2e runs 2.75 happily at 1.408. Well so far at least, I just got it in today and just wanted to do a little test.

You guy's voltages rock on those overclocks! I get 2640 at 1.472 on my X2 4400+! I think though my Patriot 1gig dimms (even with dividers) is a little flaky on my DFI NF4 SLI board.

If that is the case, you should easily be pushing 3ghz with 1.45-1.5v

Maybe over 3ghz

I wouldn't go any higher than 1.6v - regardless of temps.

Cooling will be an issue though, and I'm not spending any money on that in the near future. 2800 MHz at stock with an XP-90 will suffice for a while....

Ok, let me start by saying you guys were right on the money. With lower voltages my computer was more stable (who woulda thunk?). I'm guessing it still could be related to heat or power at this point though. I played battlefield 2 @ 2800 last night with no issues. Running prime test on that computer right now @ 2850. I'm satisfyed with 2800 but more is more.
