woah. didn't even notice.
Well, I just got my CABNE 0544 EPMW (Opteron144). PM Me with your overclocking results on Stock Voltage and Stock HS/F, when you can, and i'll pm you mine (when I can).

How much did it cost?

i would get the ram now, it aint gonna be much cheaper

as for mobo, i have the DFI ultra-D. great board but i think the best s939 board out right now is the asus A8N32-sli but there is a price to pay

its was 171 shipped

yea the corsair xms 2x512 is 99 shipped at the egg this weekend

is this really needed?

I 've been reading that the bus and mem speeds don't mean much
when compared to final clock rate

I'd hop on that XMS for damn sure. Value select is only $10 cheaper, and doesn't justify the savings for the performance when you talking about $99 Corsair XMS

Some say that the newer ValueSelect can reach 240!

What should be the limit of the XMS?

and what real world disadvantage is there from running with say a 5:4 divider
as opposed to 1:1

you can ask corsair in their forums

dfi nf4 boards do not mix with corsair ram well

the asus board is good for high multiplier overclocking but since your using the a 144 (with its 9x multiplier), look at the epox motherboard

Well I had to jump on the DFI NF4 ultra-d retail new
got it on ebay for 120 shipped with a 2 year warr. from frys

after I get a case psu and vid card (may use an old pci for testing tho)
I will test my 2x512 valueselects and the 144

i've got 18a@12v on my TT420 psu now but
thought the seasonics looked like the way to go.. a s12-380 from the new series?
or a enermax with a-pfc (trying to stay in $60 range)

Do dual rails help in a single chan. setup?
ex. +12V1@10A, +12V2@15A on the s12-380

only plan on using a single 6600gt for a while (AOE3 and RTCW mainly but FEAR looks!!)
damn i wish i got a connect3d x800 gto for 150 two weeks ago...

If you plan on playing fear you'll want to look for a better card. It brought my 6800gt to a stutter when I tried to play it with the settings turned up so I had to play with the reduced eye candy. I just ordered a evga 7800gt oc to replace it so hopefully any new games that tax the gpu will be able to play at their highest settings with it.

Get a 7800GT: mine plays FEAR & COD2 @ 1680x1050 no problem. No AA on FEAR, but all other settings turned up. All settings in COD2 maxed; a little bit slow with 4xAA but not bad at all.

Yea, I was wondering about these also, cause I ordered one of these from mwave on 12/8. I won't be able to test until after Christmas though...
