Let them leave. They take way too much of your tax dollars. Also they get their electric and water from Nevada. Those bills will go way up, when they secede. Granted, they can make their own electric, but that state just does not have enough fresh water and currently, desalination of salt water is complex and uses a lot of electricity to accomplish.

Secession is fucking stupid. It was stupid when Texas asked for it, it's still stupid now that California is asking for it.

Good point about water.

No, I'm not. I did not vote for the president this year and would not have voted for Trump.

If you click on "Popular" do you see the red bar that says "Projected Winner" and "Trump" with a checkbox next to it?

Saaaaay, are you one of those baby boomers who need their prescription checked? ;)

My god, but you're one gibbering, low information idiot. Put the shiny checkbox aside, LeRoy, and read the vote totals under each name.

Last night and early this morning, Hillary had 200,000 more votes. When I posted what you replied to this morning/afternoon, she had 300,000 more votes, despite your shiny, stupid, meaningless check mark.

Right now, as I post this, she's nearly up to a 400,000 lead.

Major basic short attention span FAIL on your part.

I take no drugs. You are desperately in need of some.

holy shit... I knew you were always dense, but have you missed the key word in my entire statement "PROJECTS".

How did I suddenly, without ever posting about trump or clinton in a positive or negative way, become a low information idiot?

The only idiot currently appears to be you, who doesn't know what projects means...

You really are this stupid, aren't you? Unbelievable. Get someone to explain to you that "projected winner" means only "will win the election based on the electoral college" while the popular vote totals, WHICH DON'T PROJECT A WINNER, have had Hillary in the lead for quite some time now, ever since the CA returns put her over the top.

Got that?

Feeling embarrassed yet, sparky? You really, really should be.

Parts of CA are super liberal. None of the people I work with or my facebook feed can relate to what's happening. FFS even super conservative Republican Orange County went democrat this year.

It is clear to me that we live in this CA liberal bubble, and what most of us want is (evidently) not what 50.1% of the rest of the country wants.
Not so much liberal or conservative as a trade war with China would not be in California's best interests.

you are just saying the same thing again just with more words. it's fine to admit you just want the system working to placate the demographics you sympathize with vs those you don't. just stop pretending that it's about a fair system. you are happy more rural areas selected a leader. that makes you just as biased as someone who wants the cities to have had the final say.
No, I want the system to work for everyone. I am happy that the least fortunate and most shit-on by this country got to elect the new prez. Maybe if the Dems actually recognized them as human beings, they would have won. But only one candidate went after the forgotten because he knew they had the potential to swing the election.

Except you have no clue what you are talking about. CA only gets 15% of it's electricity from outside of the state. It is quite close to being energy independent. CA is the 6th largest economy on earth. 60% of all produce the US consumes comes out of CA. It is also the largest provider of dairy to the rest of the country. CA contributes 2.5B to the US GDP. The 2nd closest state is TX at 1.6B. The state contributes more to the country than it gets back. Also before you start the whole bankrupt garbage CA has a 7.2B cash reserve right now. A CA secession would be catastrophic for the rest of the country. It's not happening regardless.

And what about the water issue? Hmmm.

Desalination plants are already underway with some already online like the one in SoCal. I wonder what state you live in that provides so much to the rest of the country.

I think it's the state of denial. Or perhaps the state of perpetual stupidity.

Holy fuck you're still a moderator?

As per numerous articles I have now read, since you feel lobbing insults is more important than actually explaining, the design flaw that was present on the site when I first posted, has been removed.

Mod callout. Moderators are allowed to post as regular members when not engaged in actual moderation activities. Hint: what I'm doing now is an actual moderation activity.

Lincoln is consider one of the greatest presidents for winning a civil war and keeping the union together. So, if CA seceded and Trump used military might to keep the union together would he also be considered one of the greatest presidents or a Tyrant. Something to think about.

Serious question though, one I asked long before this election. It seems like large, contiguous swaths of the country want to live under dramatically different forms of government. Maybe that's not the worst thing?

I doubt the conservative areas would ever actually want that situation to happen as they would be fiscally screwed but you could probably soften that with some sort of support payments from the liberal areas to the conservative ones to smooth the transition.

Mouthy leeches aren't ever going to answer this question for obvious reasons. Most people probably know of abusive marriages like this, and I'm guessing they don't (want to) identify with the guilty party.

Lincoln is considered great for freeing the slaves which included preventing the slave country from splitting off. Btw, the candidate who panders to the klan won.

I also think it's funny that people think California is "self sufficient"

You need water to grow or do most of anything, and you have to be the LEAST self sufficient state where that's concerned

Simple, we only want the half of the state what's worth anything.

Hand out free bootstraps to the hurting rural folks, so they can pull themselves up by them?

Beats what they got from the dems all these years.

heh, this is funny. I agree, but the difference is that Dems offered and implemented programs that honestly didn't or haven't yet worked them. Frankly, they aren't really intended to work in their current lifetime. It's a bitter pill, of course.

Republicans really only ever handed out moral platitudes and psychology lessons. It doesn't take long to realize that cutting tax breaks for the wealthy just concentrates that wealth rather than ever having it spread down. Supply side is basically just clogging your gutters with a pile of leaves and watching the water pool up on your roof while the grass at the base of your house just dies.

We'll just have to see if the Donald's brand of trickle down is ever more the failure than it has always been, I guess.

We have a a clear history of GOP presidents doubling, tripling the deficit, while dem presidents actually lessen the rate of spending. Obama's spending is double that when Bush left, but this is paying for two wars and an economic collapse that weren't his. Even Obama didn't raise debt to the same comparative levels as St Reagan. Doubling the debt during wartime and stimulus to bring a collapsed economy out of oblivion (and way better than it was before, way better than projected), sounds a lot better than tripling it during peace time and with a booming economy, as Reagan did. People don't like to think about these realities, for some reason.

concentrates that wealth

I see that the great divide has grown in the last 8 years. I'm guaranteed to be poorer.

Lincoln was against slavery and didn't want it to spread, true. But, he also said something like if he could keep the union together without freeing a single slave he would. He freed the slaves to win the war. He was able to hurt the South's economy with just a speech. Not a bad move on his part. Really no bad side to it except for maybe the influx of uneducated, poor, homeless newly freed slaves to the North. I am sure that put a strain on the North's infrastructure and welfare programs of the time. I am glad they were freed, just wish they wouldn't have been a war.

About the pandering to the klan. Clinton's organization took money from countries that violated human rights. Neither were awesome choices. Plus you don't get to pick who likes you. Didn't Obama's preacher or something speak harshly against whites? It was to long ago, so I could be wrong. Anyway it will be an interesting 4 years. I didn't think either candidate would make a second term and I still don't.

As for CA if they want to secede. I say let them. I am all for states right to leave the Union. People (states) are different, and if they believe different than the majority they should be able to leave.

If trumpsters were honest they would've kicked his birthing ass to the curb long ago. Instead they put him in the white house because of it.

No, they're the type to lament emancipation because too many black people on welfare.

You only get the red half, sorry.
Nuts. Well the red half does include some pretty sweet coastal areas. I will just come into the nation of California illegally to visit Mickey. You should be cool with that right? You can call me an undocumented tourist.
