The risk of contamination is much, much lower than that depending upon the type of sex that you undergo.
If you know beyond a doubt that your partner is positive, here are the odds:
Receptive anal sex is a 1 in 120 chance
Insertive anal sex is somewhere around 1 in 1500
Receptive Vaginal sex is somewhere around 1 in 5000ish
Insertive Vaginal sex is somewhere just above zero.
Keep in mind that these are per act figures, so if you plan on having sex more than once, it goes up. There is also evidence that people of Asian and African descent are far more susceptible to the disease than people of, say, Irish or German descent.
And this is all statistical work, so these odds are merely population-based, and don't account for individual circumstance.
