"Compared with serious-minded driving machines such as the Porsche Boxster, BMW M3 and Noble M12, the flabby old Chevrolet Corvette was as sporty as a canal barge. But you could never entirely rule out the trailer-trash gatecrasher while it had a dirty great V8 and cost tuppence, so I felt I should give the new one a fair hearing, too."
a review if you can call it that :disgust:

Huh? WTF is it then? It's one of the best-handling sports cars out there...in fact, the 2-door "Cayman" which will be based on the Boxster platform will be the eventual replacement for the 911
So I take it you've throughly driven the car in order to come up with an accurate appraisal of it's qualities right?Originally posted by: ThisIsMatt

As much as NFS4. Sorry, but when it's 0-60 time is nearing that of a stock Accord I don't call it a "serious-minded driving machine." I call it a midlife crisis machine.Originally posted by: SampSon

So if I take a McLaren F1 and drop a 1600cc VW engine in it, it's still a "serious-minded driving machine?"Originally posted by: NFS4

And not a damn one of those things have anything to do with "serious-minded driving machine."
As for it being "sluggish", a base Boxster goes 0-60 in about 5.7 seconds. An "S" does it in around 5.0-5.2 seconds. And it's one of the best handling cars out there. So again, your point is?
0-60 has very little do to with being a "serious-minded driving machine" and more along the lines of a mullet driven dragster.Originally posted by: ThisIsMatt

You're right. It's not a 911. It's a Cayman
There's only so much that Porsche can do with the rear-engined 911 and they know this. That's why the Carrera GT is mid-engined and it's 4-door sedan will be front-engined. The Cayman will have to carry the torch for the 911 past 2010
