Finally broke down and picked up some teflon tape. I would love to get the X-large C4 mousepad, but I would want to do it right and mount it to a piece of plexi-glass with a rubberized bottom, but I'm a student and I just don't have the time. :frown:

My question is, what if you used excess c4 mat as you would teflon feet?
Would this make it too slippery?
Are there groves in the surface that would catch?
Is the adhesive strong enough to hold the skates on to the bottom of the mouse?
I am experimenting with this as we speak. I have had C4 on my Logitech MX 700 feet for about 4 weeks and I'm using it on the C4 and the Son of C4, Next Gen surface. So far, it seems to work well. I can't say it's better than Teflon Mouse Tape or worse but then again, I'm not a Gamer so I don't use it as hard. I can say that it seems like a good use of the trim stock from the C4....

Anybody else want to chime in here?

I think it would depend on the desk. If it is oil-stained wood like mine, I'm guessing it might not stick that well. On Formica or slick varnished wood, I'm guess it will stick like crazy.

I'd still rather stick my C4 on "something" but I'm not sure what. It needs to grip my desk so that it doesn't slide around, be about 12x12 and it must be pretty quiet (no metal).
Any suggestions?

My desk is "fake wood" assemble-it-yourself type of furniture basically like the pictures on the web site, but you can see the corners of the sheet poking up on the web site and I'm worrried that it's what going to happen to it.

It looks like the C4 mounted on mousepad is now available but I want a larger one! minimum for me would be 8.5x11, 12x12 or higher would be even better.

When I get I get a piece of C4, I'll mount to an 1/8" of clear plexi. I'll get a pack of thin non-skid feet like the kind used to keep glass vases from sliding around. I'll customize the shape of the pad to fit my hands arc, and maybe even mount a couple of leds in the plexi to create a "glowpad" effect. However, I don't have the time to do this right now, so I'll have to make due with my Ratzpad GS untill I do get the time.

Thanks! Been looking for this stuff, just ordered it and some Teflon. Need it pretty badly, Ratzpad ate one of my MX500's feet.

er forgot to say it's $9.90

I'm hoping Son of C4 is much thinner - like a 3M Precise Mousing Surface.

then it curls a lot. forcing you to either tape it down, or even glue it down. Might as well just get the self sticking stuff if you want that thin anyway...

I just got em, they work great. I use one at home and one at work. It's like mousing on a piece of ice. So smooth, yet still I have some friction for controlled movement and stops... It's thinner then I though which is great, I was using some promo cloth pad which I hated to death. It would collect so much dirt and other crap after a few weeks...

Another newbie Q: Are all optical mice the same for gaming? Mine is 3 years old. Should I replace it with something new? Thx

I am currently using a DELL mousepad (a freebie) playing UT2004. Maybe that's why I am almost alway in #2- 4 finish (in free-for-all)

I may order anyway, but a larger version would definitely be nice, and would ensure a couple of purchases from me. :)

Eh, never had a 3M pad curl on me at all. Used one for about 2 years at work - I'm sure the people that developed the C4 surface can make a thin pad that won't curl! :)

Any opinions on this? how thin is the rubber? Is it like one of those regular foam mousepads or as thin as the ones that Dell gives out as freebies?

I wore-out my Ratzpad. So I mounted a sheet of C4 to it. Turned out pretty damned spiffy, if don't say so myself. Just ask Rockhammer
