REASON: For the most part, it?s a fully functional product that?s just as good (or better) than other mousing surfaces on the market today.

COMMENTS:

The only flaws that I see deal with the durability and appearance of the C4. The pad is very thin, and appears to be developing ?imperfections? around the corners after about 3 weeks of use. It seems that making the product a little thicker (more mass) may help with this. A lot of the problem is I am using the pad on the edge of my desk, and it makes it easy to ?crease? the pad when it goes over the edge.

As others have mentioned, the color isn?t very appealing. I?d consider going to more typical colors, such as black or gray.

Regardless, the pros definitely outweight the cons.

REASON: The mousing surface is very good. Almost an uncanny blend of speed and precision. This is by far the best surface I?ve used. However, the product has several fatal flaws which will affect its market prescience. These are:

1. It is very high maintenance, needing to be cleaned very often.
2. It is very susceptible to injury as I stated in an earlier post.
3. It is not very portable if you need another device to house it during transportation
4. It is too flimsy.
5. It adheres to my sweaty palm, becoming a nuisance.

These flaws would cause me to not buy this product. If these flaws were not present or if they were corrected before it was put into production. I would by it and then buy several more for gifts for my gamer friends.

love the product, think it is great, and think you should try and market it to a larger audience. I think it would go great with some of those ?gaming? machines sold at Best Buy and other retailers.

3) I have tried the original C4 mouse mat, adhered to a .050? piece of copper, as well as one adhered directly to desktop.

4) I tested the C4, NGen on average 3 hours per day for approximately 25 days.

5) I use a Logitech MX-300 mouse at home.

6) My normal mouse pad is the Original C4 on a .050? copper plate with no-skid drawer liner underneath.

7) My initial reaction to the C4 NGen is that it is a great product.

8) The longer I used C4 NGen I still feel that it is a great product.

9) I preferred the product with the Teflon discs, but found it worked adequately without them also.

Additional comments: I really like the C4 NGen pad, and would recommend it to most people. Do I like it better than my C4 stuck to a piece of copper? Not sure, occasionally I stick the corner of my existing C4 pad into the palm of my hand, but that happens far less frequently than the C4 NGen gets stuck to my palm (too much intense gaming where the palm sweats) and pulls up from the desktop. The C4 NGen lays down by itself after this, but it just feels ?weird? when it happens. I have not tried using a little powder on my hand to keep this from happening, but it may take care of it. Overall I think the C4 NGen is an excellent product and I highly recommend it, especially if you like a large mouse pad (larger than 9? x 8?). I have found that the larger sheets of the original C4 are difficult to apply properly. The new C4 NGen takes care of th

Thanks to all of you who tested C4-NGen and responded. In this Beta Test, we got a much higher percentage of response. Feedback has been fair, honest and well constructed. There are just a few missing responses.

We are also anxiously awaiting feedback from the C4-NGen launch at Fragzilla.

Next week, I'll summarize the results from this Beta Test. Off the top, the "too thin" comment came up frequently. I can make a thicker product but I believe it may price us out of the market. This material is the "Mercedes" of its class and is very expensive. Our goal is to give you a great product at a reasonable cost.

On the question: 16.Should C4-NGen be released to market?? 97% responsed "Yes". We have Conditionally Released C4-NGen. We incorporated many of the comments posted here in the Conditional Release statement.

I don't know much about cost of materials or how it would even effect the mouse pad, but maybe it's possible to put a cheaper material between the two layers.

As I said, I'll formalize results next week. However, I did have a few thoughts on overcoming some the the objections simply, cheaply and easily,

1. Attraction of dirt/dust: One of the testers discovered that Static Guard worked wonders. Spray a light coating on C4.
2.Sweat: there is a new product called "Mouse Grips" which is made for absorbing sweat during heavy mouse use. It comes on a sheet with many sizes. A larger cresent moon shape stuck on the mouse right around wrist height might work wonders, This fix is for anybody with sweat problems, not just for C4. Is's clever.
3. Mouse Tape, Mouse Discs or even Scotch Tape will hold corners down and is easily removed.
4. Creasing: Many mentioned fitting C4-NGen onto existing hard surfaces like Ratpadz. The support eliminates creasing problems. I think we will not promote this as portable. We will market it as an upgrade, a souped-up modification of an old pad. We have already custom-cut one to fit exactly over a Ratzpad GS and the results are awesome. I think we'll also offer this: Send us your old pad; for a minimal cost, we'll supercharge it for you.
5. Imprint with Logo..I'm at a loss on this one. We could sticker a label with a Teflon overlay but we don't want to mess up the consistency of the surface. Open to any ideas.
6. Color: My next development is SILVER but that's a ways away

That's a great idea. Will this adhere to *any* mousepad? I have a 12"x12" old pad that I love; but it is very generic. It has a rubberized botton, maybe 1/4" foam, then fabric type surface. Will the C4-NGen adhere to this?

I like everything about the new C4 except that the backing is a bit too thin. In my preliminary testing, it is just as slick and provides equally good tracking for an optical mouse as did the original C4. It has a slightly smoother surface texture than the original. I like the sticky backing. It keep the mat firmly in place on the desk. It is also easily cleaned by running under water to restore the original stickiness. Hightly recommned!

OK, just tried a PRELIMINARY test of C4-NGen on 2 fabric pads and NGen seems to stay in place very well. No movement, worked just about like it does on a hard coat surface. However, we only tried 2 in a very quick test. Would be very interested to hear from Beta Testers who have fabric pads if they could give it a quick test..

I think I heard ------ say a small metal tube would be awesome for packing them around. Definetly a big difference when using the pad with the Teflon feet. Ive been using the original C4 since PDXLAN and I think that the surfaces actually helped reduce the pain in my gamer wrist. I wouldn?t mind having the option of purchaseing the mouse pad with pre attached to a ¼ inch piece of mouse pad material. In my continued use of the product Ill let you know if anything noteworthy comes about.

Wow, it'd be great if I could order one of these pads, but unfortunately Paypal has some f*cking issues with my debit card so I cannot order one. I am not going to create a Paypal account (and wait 3 to 4 business days) just to get this pad. One Quick Update: The Response of this Forum and Fragzilla Lan has been so phenomenal that we are almost stocked out on C4-NGen. More arrives next week.

We are designing another NEW version for release for Sep/Oct. Stay tuned.

i have both the c4 adhesive and m-o-m, i prefer the m-o-m much more and was wondering if a larger size was coming out? also is the ngen more similiar to the mounted or the adehesive? the main problem i have with the adhesive is that the surface is not as consistent or as quiet as the mounted, granted i have the adhesive on a piece glass so that may have something to do with it. its a great product, however i just wish for a larger mounted piece!!!
