thoughts?

I did the same thing, it only took like 1 minute to get approved and it got here in 2 days flat! But i ordered my video card from Ewiz and it aint here. So im staring at all these parts that i cant use!

I am still deciding whether to keep my 7600gt and just wait for the DX10 cards, or upgrade to like 7900gt.

choice, choices

its sweet because I am excited to get it, not because I have it..but you are right, it could be not sweet... but I am hoping for the best!

I'm glad to see Gigabyte MB's back in style.
Every one I've used has been rock solid.

Rock solid performance vs. Ultra high OC but flakey...
Give me solid any day of the week!😉

so you think I should just keep my 7600gt?

I dont game too much and definetly never run anything higher than 1280x1024... I am starting to play oblivion, but it doesnt have to run 100fps for me or anything

I'd stick with the 7600GT, until the DX10 cards arrive. And then wait it out still, unless you suddenly become an avid gamer. 7600GT is a fairly decent card. (Though Oblivion is a ridiculously taxing game on a GPU as well.)

couple questions.. if I am only gotta moderately overclock..maybe 2.5ghz..do I need a better hsf than the one that comes with the retail proc? If I did decide to get a nice hsf..whats the best price/performance that will fit on the Gigabyte 965-DS3?

also, is 2x512mb enough memory, or should I go ahead and order another 2x512mb set?

Thanks!

The Gigabyte board that I'm running on a 3 year old P4 system has been rock solid since day one. Stability all of the way. I don't care how "fast" something runs if it doesn't run at all times.

MSI NX7600GS-T2D256E GeForce? 7600GS, (256 MB) PCI Express Graphic Card - $132.65
dot
Intel Core?2 Duo, 2.40 GHz 26600 (HH80557PH0564M) OEM / Unboxed Processor - $339.99
dot
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Motherboard - $132.99
dot
PQI TURBO 2 x 1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM (PQI254002GDB) - $199.95

However, I'd consider comparing:
an overclocked 6300 + more expensive PC2-6400 memory
vs.
the more expensive 6400, 6600 + cheaper memory.

i think the higher multiplier will help for this board , i have a e6300 now that i am about maxing out however i am at 475 fsb in order to do this . with the 8x multiplier i would be in the low 400 fsb to achieve same speed this would be easier on the chipset and memory.

the memory may be the bottle neck of this selection , but again this person doesnt want a huge overclock so this should be fine for this .

hugs
