C2D Stock HSF - What is your RPM / Temp at full load?

Sorry about another stock hsf question.

I have a e6600 oc to 315x9 1.37v. The cpu temp is at 78c under full load (2 prime 95 runs).

I noticed that the fan speed is stuck at 1735rpm (when the system boots up, the fan would rev higher, but soon slows down; also when it boots into windows xp, the rpm will increase but it slows down right after windows came up).

I can use smarguardian (dfi infinity 975x/g) to slow down the fan speed further but cannot get it to increase.

Any clue?

If you use a stock hsf, what is your cpu rpm under full load?

Any help / comment /suggestion will be much appreciated.

In the mean time, I think I am going to get a Tuniq Tower 120.

You have settings for your cpu fan's rpm in your BIOS; they need to be changed.

Thanks for your quick reply. Excellent advice, however:

I have 3 settings: "full on", "fan PWM" and "smart fan". I tried them all and got the same result.

On my DFI Lanparty NF4, I could set the temp at which the fan would spin at full speed. I do not see the feature on DFI Infinity 975 X/G except the 3 settings I mentioned above.

Is there anywhere elso in the BIOS I should make a change?

I am begining to wonder if there is anything wrong with the mb (The motherboard failed to boot initially but came back alive without any apparent chanes) or my winxp is not installed properly.

I am using a Corsair 620W PS, brand new.

I have assembled over 20 systems in the last few years as a hobby. But the last 3 DFI boards gave me the most problems (most are PSU-related). Maybe it is time to go back to ASUS or maybe ABIT.

I read it on some other forums that the stock fan revs at 2200rpm at full load. Can anybody here confirm?
