I know I'm missing a motherboard. I'm geting a nForce 500 series Asus board when they release (in the next week or so according to Anand's lastest review).

I'm planning on getting a Zalman CNPS9500 HSF but I'm not sure if I'll order that straight away.

Any suggestions to the build? I know the Video Card isnt the best but I don't need a great card. I plan on getting a DX10 card when they release so I'm saving money on the Graphics side.

Also this is my first full build so I need to know. Do I need to buy cables, connectors, etc?

Thanks.

Looks like mostly good stuff although a little on the pricey side.

I'd go with one of these for a power supply.

And I probably wouldn't spend that much on a sound card because if you need a front port for headphones you can come up with something a lot cheaper than that X-Fi Platinum. I'd put the soundcard money towards a better videocard(assuming you are using this system for games).

You shouldn't need any extra cables or connectors. You will want an optical drive of some sort.... I suggest a Plextor or Lite-On... these are the only two brands of DVD burners I will even consider.

Good luck with your build... you will be amazed at how easy it really is once you finally have all the parts in one place! 😀

I only play CS:S, HL:2, and Halo PC/CE. I don't need the better video card. When DX10 cards are out (and have matures a bit) I plan on buying a top of the line one and start working on Halo 2 Vista modding.

I have heard very good things abotu the OCZ GameXStream which is why I chose it.

About the X-Fi - I'll be using Senn HD555's and according to alot of Audiophiles the X-Fi (especially the Front Bay) really makes these shine. I have a DVD Burner drive right now but I might pick up a second DVD drive for reading.

I've had a Dell optiplex 1.8 p4 with the only upgrade being going from 256 to 512 then recently to 1 gig. I've also added a 80 gig HD and a 9600Pro. I'm tired of this slow POS and want to build a new computer that will last so I'm willing to spend the money on the new PC.

Well, it sounds like you will have a new system that should totally smoke that old one in every single way. I would still recommend checking out the PC Power & Cooling power supply... they are widely regarded as the best.

I'll go ahead and do some research on those then. Thanks. So the motherboard will come with the proper cables for hooking up my Hard Drives? (I have 3 IDE's and a new SATA 3.0gbs) plus the optical drives.
