C2D E6600 - One core hotter than the other?

Greetings. In short, is it OK if one core is 1-4C hotter then the other?

So, I just installed a Tuniq Tower 120 with arctic silver 5 two days ago. Now I notice at idle my temps (according to Core Temp) are Core#0 23C and Core#1 24C. If I run Orthos they jump up around Core#0 37C and Core#1 39C. If I open a browser or application Core#1 might get 3-4C hotter than Core#0 for just a second.

With the stock intel HSF the temps were the same. Granted, they were 7-8C higher, but they were the same.

I know I might be being a little anal, but I just want to make sure this is normal and I'm not hurting anything here. I really don't want to have to re-seat the Tuniq Tower since that thing was a pain to get installed due to the size.

Good news is that my core temps have dropped a good 7-8C :)

Thanks.

make sure you have the latest drivers for the cpu.

of course, dont forget that mobo temp and volt readings are rarely spot on very often.

Drivers for CPU? is there something I've been missing out on? ;)

For mine, Core#1 is almost always a few degrees hotter than Core#2, simply because it is the core that programs default to run on. I don't think it's much of an issue.

omgwtfbbq?? drivers??

i think we were in th wrong line when intel was passing those out if their are any: >.<

And dont freak out op, my cores always dance with each other. As logn as its not drastic like more then 10 from each other, i wouldnt worry.

thanks for the responses. ya, it doesnt seem to ever be more than like 4-5C from each other, and that's only for a quick moment. idle or load they are within 1-3C of each other.

If it's constantly 4-6 C difference, then you would need to remount your HSF.
Just 1-3 C as the common measure is fine.
Besides, you're looking at under 40C even at load; so you're fine anyways.
If one core flashes higher than the other during loads, that's nothing, don't even bother looking at temps when you're doing a load of a Web browser or something similar; those are single-threaded applications, so they only run on one of the cores.
