Hello All,

I am new to this board and relatively new to overclocking. I have recently built my new system, which is pretty amazing for the most part. Specs are:

C2D E6600
Asus P5W-DH Bios: 1503
Corsair Value Select DDR2 2GB 5300 (Will change in maybe a month when I have more money)
Zalman 9500LED
Antec P180 Case

Right now, I have overclocked it to 3.0 Ghz with Vcore set in bios at 1.35. I know the processor can be overclocked to even higher specs, however, I didn't know if it would be a good idea since the memory was going to be so slow. Right now the memory is running at
670Mhz. Everything else in the mobo is set to auto.

Core Temp shows at idle: 44C
Core Temp shows at stress: 56C

Please tell me if I am doing anything wrong, any settings I should change, if I should do more overclocking, if my voltage settings are correct, anything.

Anything input is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!!

What is your memory's factory specs? (voltage & timings) Try loosening memory timings and give more voltages. 2.25Vdimm should be pretty safe for testing purposes. If your memory can't clock higher, the only work-around is to select the lowest ratio (which runs memory slower than FSB) or buy better sticks, I'm afraid.

Yeah, PC6400 RAM works better for OCing on these mobos but you probably can get 3.2-3.4 at least if you keep playing with it. The vcore is gonna need to be increased I think to get past that modest OC. If i remember correctly once you get to 337fsb you need to increase Vcore on the P5W DH mobo. You'll find the info in the official thread in the mobo section for this mobo.

Thanks for the reply guys!

Anyway, I currently have it running at:

E6600 @ 3.15Ghz Vcore @ 1.35
DDR2 5300 @ 700Mhz with Timings and voltage set to Auto, cpuz reports: 5-6-6-18
Core Temp Reports: Idle/Stress: 46/58C

Ran Orthos Blend Test (CPU and RAM) for 1Hr. with 0 error messages.

I think I will be leaving these settings for now unless someone has any suggestions.

Thanks!

Corsair warranty is good up to 2.1v. Good to see our VS getting a decent OC there. Have fun with the new system.
