This is an old compaq that someone would like upgraded. It currently has a 300a in it, runs stable, just slow. The EX, for those who don't know is similar to the LX, just with less ram capacity. I have tried a Celeron 533 (old type) with a slocket on it, and yes it does work... but what about a C2, that I know won't OC at all? Is there a chance of killing off the cpu?

I think it should work as long as you have, Slocket 2 for right voltage and BIOS to recognize the CPU. even w/o the bios upgrade, it should still boot. Can't confirm.

that should do, it's the new one that supports fc-pga. but you have to worrry about the BIOS recognizing the CPU or not.

I've got a Tekram EX that supports voltages down to 1.3V so theoretically with a new slocket I should be able to run a C2. Don't have the money or else I'd give it a whirl. Don't expect any BIOS updates though, unless you, or someone you know can do it.
