What the heck is C#? I know it's a programming language of course, but I mean, is it web development or what?

C# is the next step in the C++ type programming language from Microsoft. It will be a great deal more good from C++ and some from Java that will be the hallmark of Microsoft's new Visual Studio.NET development software.

C# is also bringing in stuff from the Visual Basic Realms. The part of the plan that I know of is to make things more NET based. Why re-invent the wheel each time you program. Maybe someone else already wrote the code that would do part of what you want. So now (dot)NET will make this exchange easier and the coding less cumbersome. Or so they say...
