Wow.....been here quite a while now and I think this is the first time I've posted in CPU forum.....................anyhow, does/has anyone received or know where one can order a P4 C stepping except the 2.8 & 2.66's???? Need a new one and trying to wait for the "C's".........but, becoming impatient!;) Not really wanting to dump a load into another 2.8 and I can't see buying a 2.66 when I have one 2.8 so.......................;) Let me know if you have spotted any or know where I can pick one up! Thanx.....................:D

try the 2.6 and 2.5? neweggy has them...that's all...but if you are looking for older gens...C1 stepping won't surface probably until late OCT or early Nov...gl find it...and if you do find it...let us all know...we are all very impatient overclockers here...:D

Received my c1 stepped 2.5 from newegg yesterday. Running 3Ghz at 120 FSB, 1.6v core-quiet and air cooled.

Wow man.......I guess those are some chips to stay away from then huh????;) a 2.5Ghz chip is only able to run at 3Mhz??????:Q LOL!

Seriously, I know it was just a typo...........can you give me some details???? I know what the markings should be from my 2.8 and want to verify if it is a "C"!;) If it is...........I'm there and buying since I just decided to check here before going and buying a 2.66!;)

What would yo like to know? I think I did make a mistake getting the 2.5 @400 Vs. the 2.53 @ 533. Why? Memory bandwidth. Mine is low, in the PC2700 test arena because of the 120 FSB. can't go higher. I'm running the memory - Corsair 3200 XMS at 2-2-2 but I can't get it to perform any better than a good PC2700 RAM. ASUS even lets me set a 3:4 overclock on it with dismal results. Here are the stats:

Ok, what is this C1 or C stepping? Kinda been out of the loop recently.
I think you can tell if you have the new stepping by checking stepping ID in WCPUID. If its 7, you got new stepping. Normally its 4.

All 2.5 Ghz @400 are the new C1 stepping. Mine was manufactured 08/23/02. Here's the rest. A good RDRAM Board would have been the best solution in this case rather than DDR.

sSpec Number SL6GT
Processor Frequency 2.50 GHz
CPUID String 0F27h
Package Type FC-PGA2 478-pin
Core Voltage 1.525V
Bus Speed 400 MHz
Thermal Design Power 61.0W
Core Stepping C1
Max Junction Temp 72°C
L2 Cache Size 512K
Die Size 0.13 micron
L2 Cache Speed 2.50 GHz
ECC/non-ECC ECC
Bus/Core Ratio 25.0
Boxed/OEM Processor? Both
