c-media v vortex 2

how much difference in sound is there between the c-media audio and something like an aureal card on the vortex 2 chip? in terms of sound and cpu usage? also, how does the vortex 2 rate by itself?
 
Uhh, which c-media? I forgot which cards had that chip 😛 But anyways, for what they cost, vortex2's still offer supreme sound over most of their 45+ dollar competitors.
 
The C-media 8738 is a pretty good soundcard. It has a Sensaura 3d engine, so it supports A3D 1, EAX 1, EAX2, I3DLevel2, ZoomFX, MacroFX and Multi-drive. Quality wise, the Vortex may edge it out, but for game support, speaker support the the C-media wins.
