C & C Generals

I have a quick question. This past weekend I bought C & C Generals. Took a while to get it, but. It is a good game. I just want to protect it. So I decided to TRY and make a copy of it so I can put the original away and use the copy to play the game. Like I said I tried and gave me a error saying that the CD was blocked. Does this mean the disc is protected. If so, is there a program that will let me make a copy of it and keep the original free from scratches.
Any help greatly appreciated. TIA

If it is protected, then it is illegal to copy it. The DMA states that you cannot bypass copywright protection for any reason.

As if anyone will give a sh1t on the legality of circumventing copy protection.

I do, this forum does. Discussing such things gets vacation time from the Piracy Mod.

This isn't piracy if he has the original disk. He just needs to ask google his question I suppose.

This isn't really piracy since he's not asking how to download a warez copy for himself. He just wants to make a backup. OP, you'll have to do some reading on how to make perfect 1:1 rips, if it's even possible.

That is irrelevant. It is illegal if it is protected, period. Read up on the DMA.

What does direct memory access have to do with copywright?

Oh wait, you mean DMCA. You are aware that law is only in the US. And it says you can not write software to cirumvent encryption. C&C is not an encrypted CD (like a dvd movie is per say, and we talk about using dvd shrink on these forums, which is breaking US law). Copying a cd with safe disk or securerom doesn't require you to decrypt or break any protection.

You will not be able to use the disk to play the game though, just install. you will need a no-cd crack for that, and you should know where to get those. I dont think I have ever installed a game I couldn't no cd crack.

The DMCA also prohibits unauthorized use which means that the OP can't resell copied discs of his game, but making his own backup is considered fair use and has been a protected right since the the 70s.

i ususally go to gamecopyworld.com to get the No-CD patch, then i just store my games away. then it the game starts without the disc. doesnt always work though if you wanna play online
