C&C Genarals: Zero hour

We have a problem while playing on WLAN. The thing is: after few minutes game detects a mismatch and kicks us out from it. Does someone know how to repair it and where?
Thanx a lot

are you using the same serial key? if so it will disconnect you.

sometimes it wont work if the games arent patched to the same version. update your patches if you can, and tell your other players to do the same.

different patches. Update both PCs to the latest versions.

Also, there maybe a problem with your connection. Cuz the game starts of fine then mismatch. I used to have the same problem on a LAN and then fixed it by replacing the switch

yea, ive been having problems with the switch too. I find that sometimes the connections will time out, and it seems the only recourse is to unplug the switch and let it reset. i dont know if its having some kind of buffer overflow problem, out of memory or what, i dunno. I have a shltty dlink switch, 5 port 10/100.

But i think the original problem is a mismatch of patch versions......

Our game is already patched on the same version and we are not using same keys! Is there any other solution? I heard that there is a problem with patch version 1.02. Does someone know anything about it?

Buy a better game.

Seriously. My friends and I gave up on Generals at our LANs simply because its netcode was so ass-poor HORRIBLE. Even if we all installed off the same media to ensure a homogenous version (but with our own keys) we'd still get network drops and lost sync. And when it DID occasionally work, it would lag like it was on 10Base2 coax.

Wow, I just came into here to ask if you could play c&c on a LAN... I guess my question was answered in this thread, which just happened to be near the top.

Anyone have a particular flavor of C&C that they prefer for multiplayer?
