C&C first decade help needed

Got C&C: First Decade today. went to play and i get sound but no video. I knew this would happen!! my monitor doesn't seem to like resolutions below 1024x768 or maybe 800x600.

the monitor is a acer al1912 19" lcd

i need to manually change the resolution or find a way to make my monitor view lower resolutions!!

help!!

well, ok after some messign around, changing my monitor to 60hz from 75 allows me to play the game...is there a way to only make it use that setting when i play C&C?

nope, 640x480 with no options that i can see to change it


i have to say playing these games brought back some good memories! the music, the enemies death noises, and everything...haha

Its the game itself... I think. Maybe the engine just dosent like high resolutions... this is all therory so correct me if I'm wrong.

alright, now i'm a little pissed. i got 640x480 to work but now 800x600 won't.

general and zero hour don't want to work with my screen. says image not supported or something like that. the original generals works fine...

also, tiberian sun runs like its in hyper drive.

starting to think maybe this was a bad idea after all...

so what exactly does optimized for windows xp really mean?
also, its EA, i should have expected this...

hmmm... if the version of C&C is lifted directly out of C&C gold, and has its own executeable, you mgiht be able to try the old Windows 95 emulation method and define the executeable property to automatically go into 640x480. I personally didn't buy Compilation because I had bought every single game separately. but yeah, I'm pretty sure you would have to switch out of that resolution in order to play anothing past tiberian sun.
