Bytecc USB external enclosure

Hello all,

I'm getting a Bytecc External USB Enclosure as part of a deal, here.

I am wondering if it will be possible to hook up a DVD+R/RW or -R/RW in future to this and have it work normally?

The site says it's applications are 5.25" CD/ CDRW/ DVD, 3.5" IDE drive.

I'm seeing other enclosures with applications such as 5.25" CD/ CD-RW/ DVD/ DVD-/+RW, 3.5" IDE drive, which is why im a bit curious.

Thanks for any help offered!

Although the Construction is not the best it has worked with my NEC DVD-R/RW but I switched to a case with Firewire because Firewire seems to work better IMO

This unit just contains an IDE to USB translator chip and a 40pin 80 wire IDE cable, I have the firewire version of this unit and it works fine w/ any 3.5" to 5.25" IDE device I've put in it, including DVD burners. Hopefully that helps 🙂
