ByteCC ME-320U2F firewire external DVD+/-RW enclosure appears as "removable disk"

I just put my Optorite DD0203 in the external USB2/firewire enclosure yesterday. The USB2 works great on my Shuttle SK41G XPC, burns cds and everything. But when I attach the enclosure via firewire it appears as "removable media" instead of a dvd+/-rw drive. It can't read any cd's and says the drive needs to be formatted. The instructions says WinXP doesn't need any extra drivers and should read everything fine, does anyone know why its appearing as the wrong device?

figured this one out myself, the firewire chipset wants the drive to be jumper set as master. I was using a jumperless setting.
