I'm the only one using this PC and find it usless and stupid to click on my name every time I boot up.

Is there a way to bypass the logon screen in win xp pro?

Thanks for the help

Sure you can.
Get "Tweak UI for Windows XP" (available at microsoft). Go to Logon->Autologon, enter user name/password.
(Registry editing is also possible but I don't remember paths exactly, tweak UI is usefull so you should get it anyway)

Have you tried the Auto-Logon feature of TweakUI???

You can download the XP version here. This version has actually been pulled from the MS site until the end of the month. I'm assuming there's an issue that is being worked on. However, I don't know the details.

<< If you only need to have one account, there won't be any logon screen. >>

Running XP/NT with only one user set as Administrator is playing with fire. Especially so if you're new to the NT world. He would be better off bumping his everyday account to User rights and log on as Administrator when needed. He can still use the Auto-Logon feature of TweakUI to start the User account when booting into XP.

Um its no more dangerous (just a heck of a lot more expensive) to run NT / XP / 2000) as admin than to run 95 / 98 / ME, or a Nix as root.

Thanks for the link Psychoholic!

I've been looking for the powertoys ever since the day MS pulled it for whatever reason.

Oh and as for running as Admin, don't worry about it.
If you had bought XP home all your users are Admin only anyway.

The reason TweakUI is hard to find is I think M$ is releasing a new version at the end of the month.
