just pick a port that works w/ the firewall and setup a bouncer on a computer outside of the firewall

If you can use a Socks proxy, use the program SocksCap. (Do a regular search for it). If your firewall ports are implicitly allowed, there is an option in mIRC to use a random local port.

If you can admin the firewall, forward the port. If this is the case (and the reason being DCC) this might be the best option. This does however leave a pretty sizable security hole.

um... if your firewall doesn't allow outgoing connections on ANY ports how are you reading this? setup the bouncer on 80 and you should be set.
