Effexor XR is WICKED to quit. I hope your not on a large dose!

I was on a mere 75mg and it took me 3 weeks to quit. I would be sitting around then it'd feel like I have electrical shocks in my brain. It was not terribly painful but an EXTREMELY strange and unsettling feeling. That feeling kept going for a month after I quit.

If I tried to quit too fast, the shocks would get more frequent and more painful. They forced me to quit slowly.

Seriously. It was unpleasant as hell.

After a few months I ran out of the ample samples the psych provided me - I didn't like being dependent on a medication so I thought it was as good a time as any to quit. The first three days were the worst, but after a week most of the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms were gone.

I feel left out of the whole lifestyle prescription drug thing, because I do not get anxiety attacks, I'm not depressed, I'm not bipolar, and I have neither ADD nor ADHD. :(

Effexor is absolutely evil shit and shouldn't even be on the market in my opinion.

Good luck with dropping both of them.

Effexor should come with a black box warning. My doctor compares it to getting off heroin. I have not ever tried to totally quit it, but the times I ran out and went one or two days without were pure hell. It is some really nasty stuff to do without, brain shocks, nausea, headaches, sweating, chills. I'm taking 300mg a day and have been for over two years. If I ever have to quit it they are going to have to put me in a coma while I do !

Just start using recreational drugs.

Paxil is a b!tch to quit. I still get brain shocks years after quitting that shit.

These SSRI's are not worth the bullsh!t benefit they claim to have with all of the negative side effects.
