This is very disappointing. The 30/60/90/180 day evaluation versions aren't always a plausible solution for lot of the test environments/labs that IT pros have used TechNet subscriptions for.

bad move for them, my subscription runs till februrary next year. i wonder if they will black list the keys people have once their account expires?

Yep...I haven't looked into it, but I have been told it's around $6k per year. Way too much money.

Microsoft Partners can still access products/keys through the MS Action Pack. But that doesn't help those of us who aren't or don't work for a Partner.

Yes, to get a MSDN sub that corresponds to a TechNet Pro, it is $6K minimum. If you just want the operating systems and don't care about the other servers and apps, you can get the $699 MSDN sub.

Still way overpriced, as with everything Microsoft sells. Hopefully they see the desires of the customer and keep Technet for those that want and need it.

Yes, this is a shame. We have chance to renew until end September.

What will happen to the validity of the keys? I'd think that they'd expire with ending of the sub...
