Uh, this thing is really actually being used? I never heard about anyone who would touch it, everyone just changes search into Google as far as I know.

It must be american thing though, I am almost sure of it (just like noone in America ever used ICQ and rather stuck with the MSN abomination 😛).

I started to use bing over google when I realized about bing rewards. I figure as much as I search it's nice to be rewarded considering how much money the big guys make off of search engines.

It's been my experience that Bing's results are usually more on point than Google's. Would be mildly annoyed to see it go.

uh no.

Who gives a shit about Bing? Did everybody just skim over the part where he said he'd kill bing AND xbox? That seems a lot more substantial given that it would leave Sony as the only player in the "hi tech" console sector

That's bad for everyone. Exchanging a MS monopoly for a Google monopoly isn't progress. There needs to be competition to keep innovation going, and to help keep malicious features at bay.

agreed. but it competition hasn't kept the malicious features at bay. google is full of them.

I love those Bing commercials where they ask people in public to pick which search engine is better, and they all seem to make their choice based on which one shows the most amount of pictures 😀

Anyway, there is no way Bing can compete with Google. Google's advertising machine meshed with its web crawling and information gathering methods are unmatched. The design of Bing is nice, but it just doesn't show the relevant, almost ESP-like results that Google does.

OK, I'll give you the porn thing. They should sell that product on it's own 😀

If they advertised their search engine on porn sites and even convinced porn sites to integrate their search engine, they could make bing profitable in no time 😀

I remember the "good old days" of Bing cash back. MS ended the promotion mid-2010. Boy, those were the days!

Bing may suck in comparison to Google, but I'm not eager for a world in which Google is the only search provider, either.

Change the name to BANG and every time you open the site you get hot lesbian chicks doing porn, it would be an overnight success.

I don't think Elop would get rid of Bing entirely, but it's probably about time to reevaluate how and why things are being done.

The Xbox, though... If it's not a major success by the end of next year, I think you can kiss it goodbye.
