No one probably knows what the "Trump stamp of approval" iOwa republican governor Kim Reynolds is up to with public education. Maybe no one cares, but this is what most far-right extremist republicans have wanted for a long long time. This, and the demise of medicare and social security. iOwa gov Reynolds, best knows as covid Kim, wants to take taxpayer money away from public education and give that taxpayer money directly to families to send their kids to private schools. Diverting money meant from public education schools to private education schools. And the really weird thing here is, what is Reynolds getting out of this??? I ask only because Reynolds has been pushing this agenda for years, having lost all of her the past attempts, but this time she just might do it. This time, considering iOwa is now 100% a totally red state. Sadly, the state that once voted for Obama... twice.
Reynolds
She acts like this is such a good deal for everyone, however the public schools are fuming along with parents that support public education. But Reynolds doesn't give a damn about what the majority wants, what republican ever does? Because now she has the republican super majority in the state house and in the state senate so she can do whatever she wants. The last time she messed with a valuable public service was along with her predecessor republican governor Terry Branstad (Terry Braindead). They fought against Obamacare and successfully privatized medicaid in iOwa. Totally destroyed the medicaid program for thousands of iOwans, seniors, the poor, the disabled, and iOwans are still suffering from poor medical options, restrictive costs, extremely long waits for medical treatment procedures, and plus a lot of people are dying. Now, Reynolds is hell bent on going after public education. Should Donald Trump become president in 2024, guess who Trump will appoint Secretary of Education?
And so.... Reynolds wants to give $7598 taken from public education and hand that taxpayer money over to parents to pay for their kids private education. Yes, that's $7598 tax payer dollars. But wait a second, lets play this out. Private education schools will no doubt welcome this windfall of tax payer money coming their way, and they will want more.... much more. Once that spigot is turned on there will be no end nor no limit to it. Next year, Reynolds will be back in front of congress insisting $7598 is not enough, and the private schools will raise their fees as well by double or triple, so Reynolds will insist the iOwa congress increase those funds from $7598 to $14,598. Or to $16,598. And on and on it will go. Eventually, the goal achieved. Public education starved to death, and taxpayers paying endlessly thru the nose to fund the greed of private education. And it will indeed become all about "the greed". Private education soaking up those taxpayer funds. Slurp slurp.
Just thought people should know. Should know what to expect in their republican controlled statehouse.
HERE YA GO, THE NASTY DETAILS....
And an interesting little tidbit....

HERE YA GO, THE NASTY DETAILS....
The plan would give any Iowa student, regardless of income, $7,598 a year in an Education Savings Account if they switch from public to private school.
The governor has proposed similar bills in the last two sessions, though both were much narrower than her current proposal. Both plans were unable to secure enough support.
"There is no requirement that private schools take students with disabilities. Schools get to determine literally any criteria they'd like,"
"If a student wants to go to a school and isn't Christian and it's a Christian school, that school is not required to accept that student. These taxpayer dollars are going to schools that get to pick and choose which students they have."
And an interesting little tidbit....
The House version of the governor's 'school choice' plan is exempt from the traditional budgetary process requiring consideration in the House Appropriations or Ways and Means Committees. House Republicans made that change earlier this week.
