Bye bye AMD?

Umm, it's a bit wrong to say 95 CPU's.
More like 95 SKU's, since many of those listed are the same product line, just different versions (ie: boxed, unboxed etc)
There are 7 different AMD64 3000+ SKU's listed, and NINE 3200+ SKU's there.
Hardly the end of the world.

looks like alot of cheap deals with be coming out...maybe its time to max my mobos out now...I have 2-3500's and 1-3800

Some of the items on that list are chipset chips and embedded CPUs. Others are simply boxed vs. OEM versions. 7 of them alone are 3000+ models, 9 are 3200+ models. You should see how many chips intel cans every year.

They EOL products still in channel for two reasons:
a) AM2 is a different FAB process and higher yields. Getting all their plants to retool for the different size takes time and that eats into production schedules. (Less chips in channel = lower sales for them. Remember they have a set price to distributors. Distributors and retailers fix their price according to demand.)

b) With cost being an issue, they need to deplete the channel before orders slow down. In effect, surplus chips are sold at a much lower cost because demand is less at the distributor (because they want the latest and greatest in their own channel). Using an EOL strategy the channel dries up before the wholesale cost is driven down. Hint: We won't see non-AM2 chips being sold this year and greatly reduced prices.

Edit: Or dual opteron...hmm...

I bought a dual opteron about 3-4 months ago, 175 to be exact. I paid $503 for it and now its at $520 so the prices are going nowhere but up on these pups

Might get another 165 and a dual cpu mobo.

quad cores will make me awesomer

1xx opterons don't do duals. You need the 2xx, 4xx, or 8xx ones for that.

I guess i'll have to get some of those then.

Hopefully they will be uber cheap then.
