bwahahahaha! dell warranty expired a week before hard disk failure

Just to give you an idea of what quality computers mean 😉

Only reason i'm using a dell as my server is because it was...FREE!

that's right, free with my 18" LCD!

now my warranty expired about a week ago, and guess what!? Hard disk failure, error code 79 😛

I love how they time these things! Now i wonder to what date they've set the system to self distruct? 😕

Dogbert is actually in charge of manufacturing at Dell. The chip is designed to shut off anywhere between 1 week and 2 months after the warranty expires. People then have to pay for the repair. The person pays an arm and a leg for the repair thinking it's serious when all thats really done is the chip is reactivated for another year. 😛

hehe, the guy tried to get me to buy another HD, told him that i'm very well capable of doing it myself.

He told me to make sure i get a compatible hard drive that's 30GB. wtf is compatible supposed to mean? do they have their own DELLIDE connector or something? 😕

in a rebel mood i tell him i'm going to buy a 120GB one. He just laughs and says <indian accent>thank you for calling dell, goodbye.</indian accent> 😛

Heh I had to call Dell tech support last week and the first time I get some Indian person. Before I get a chance to ask him how the weather is in mombay(sp?) he puts me on hold to research the information and never comes back. Second time I got an American though.

i called dell to see if they'd replace the drive free so that they'd have to deal with my complaining, and it gave me a reason to go off on dell 😉

It will still accomodate a 120GB hard drive without 48LBA., unless the computer is at least 6-7 years old.

It will still accomodate a 120GB hard drive without 48LBA., unless the computer is at least 6-7 years old.

They ll just replace the part you broke... even if u manage to short the mobo....
you ll not get a new laptop...

To get a new laptop, you ll need to get the Complete Care warranty from Dell ... and then drive over the laptop ... accidentely.
