Antec super lanboy
Ocz 450 watt modstream
Amd athlon 64 3500+ Venice
msi k8n neo4-f
1 gig (2x 512mb) patriot value ram
evga 6600 gt

I will use this for gaming, music, and just a little bit of video editing.
Only thing i cant decide is if i should drop to 3200+ and up the vid card to an ATI 800xl 256 mb card or i should just stick with the 6600 gt and wait till all the new vid cards come out.
Any suggestions are welcomed thx

drop down to 3200+, OC it and buy the x800xl, you will be much happier, even if you do not OC, the x800xl is ALOT better.

Definately get the Radeon X800XL. It is one of the best graphics ever released, in terms of delivering great performance at a reasonable price. You will be much happier in the long run.

-3000+
-Corsair ValueSelect
-I woudln't get MSI. Buggy bios + bad support = not cool. Look at the EPox board, anandtech gave it some award for stability/overclocking.
-6800 vanilla + NVSilencer/Arctic cooling + 4 unlocked pipelines + unlocked shader = Good!

-TPG

if the price difference between the 3200 and 3500 is less than $60, then get the 3500. if not, then stick with 3200

I have your MSI MB that you're going to buy, its retail and was only tested to make sure it worked, I decided to go with a DFI so i could overclock:)
Let me know if you'd be interested in it.

i'd say yes, but to be honest, there is not much noticeable difference between the two.

maybe you could spend the $60 elsewhere?

like a x800xl :)

For a while probably, unless you want to play F.E.A.R., which, as it goes, only runs well on a 7800 GTX, a 500-600$ card :-/

And they will attract more customers this way.....? They should follow Blizzard's strategy, make a game based on gameplay, not on graphics..thats why most of their games are top sellers, low end computers can handle them too...

Well, about the same as a CPU would, and definitely not as much as a graphics card would.

X800XL + 3200+ is the only way to go. The only thing above a 3200+ that I would go would be a 3700+ San Diego because of the extra cache. It's always better to go for the better graphics card if you're on a budget :)

It makes a small difference. RAM should be the last on your list after everything else. Only after you have the best cpu, best video card and best psu and you still have some money left over for some LL RAM then buy it.

The OP does not fall into this category so value ram will work, with an unnoticable performace hit.

PMGONEONEONEONEONE I TOOK A .05% PERFORMANCE HIT BY NOT GETTING PERFORMANCE RAM

See Zebo's thread on LLs - not worth it at all. Poor investment, IMHO.

mOeeOm,
Exactly, although World of WarCraft struggled for me.
Blizzard is amazing at optimizing their games, there was a problem everyone had in this crowded town causing everyone extreme load lag (Ironforge for those playing along), but one patch cleared it up almost completely for people with newer PCs (not me, unfortunately, but it's just another sign it's time to upgrade my 3.5 year old PC)

One thing i would say if your looking for aluminum case get the Antec P160 instead of the Lanboy. Its a little bit bigger but just as light and has some really nice features, including being less noisey, removable tray, thermal readouts built in, Hard drive trays. could list more but it something to think about.
