buying remanUFACTURED - what's your experience?

i'm really jonesin' for a canon a80 & am getting tired of waiting for a sale. it's available at nice electronics for $290, but it's a reman. the description says it's like new, with all the same stuff included as the real deal. i've never bought reman before - what's your experience? is it as good as new? thanks in advance,

But anyway.. It's touch and go. You never know what was wrong with the item in the first place. It could've been something simple that would never effect the operation of the unit, but it could also be a lemon ...

I've bought 2 things refurbed, a 19" monitor and a video card. I've had both for 3+ years, and they still work fine.

Personally a digital camera is one of the few things i would NOT buy remanufactured (or used, unless i knew the seller personally). I wouldn't want to take a chance. But that's just me.

I bought my Pioneer DEH-P8500MP head unit refurbished on ebay (which was a pretty hefty purchase). It was a really smart decision afterall, since it still works and looks like new to this day, and I saved a bundle by not buying it brand new.
