Buying parts to build a computer, what exactly should I get?

As you saw in the title I am thinking about getting a Brand New Computer and I would like to know what exatcly I should get, I would like the fastest computer possible, what would you guys recommend? And one last thing, money isn't an issue for me.

What exactly do you intend to do with it? I know a guy getting a 3.06P4, radeon 9700pro, and he will do nothing more than office apps. Or are you really in need of power?

Either way, with no money issues, I would go with either the P4 3.06 or an AMD barton. SCSI hard drives in RAID 0+1

What I'm really going to do with it is mostly for gaming.

Definitely get a couple high-end monitors. I prefer CRT over LCD for games, and higher resolution... but that's preference. Seriously, if you are getting a fast card like the 9x00, dual monitors are great. Not terribly useful for games, but I'll never go back to a single monitor setup again.

I agree with the specs posted before, my preference leaning towards the Barton setup. Grab a fast Plextor/Lite-On burner while your at it, and Audigy II card for the games, and a DVD burner if you're into that. The new Logitech MX500 mice are great, the MX700 if you want cordless. Klipsch Promedia 5.1.... Anything I've missed?

Well, since money is no issue, and memory prices are pretty good, I'd go all out and get 2GB of memory. Heck I've run out of memory on my rig (1.25GB) using Photoshop. My friend said it in 1995, and it holds true today. You can never have too much memory.

XP3000 Barton and P4 3.06.. they both kicks lots of ass.. I could go for either of em
