Buying online

I'm used to buying off the forums. But I decided to buy my DFI NF4 Ultra-D and 3000+ new this time around. Curious do you all go by cheapest price or more reliable place? ZZF is cheaper but Newegg seems to have better support.

Also are the latest revs of this board being shipped from everywhere?

i'd buy from whichever store is cheaper. zzf and newegg are both excellent online stores.

ZZF is great as is Newegg.
As for the rev; it all depends on when you buy, how many that vendors sells, and when the last rev was released.

just bought all my stuff from zipzoomfly... no problems
no tax
no shipping charge
saved about $150 over all.

For the little stuff (optical, floppy, HDs, etc) i just pick the absolute cheapest. But for the big item stuff i will tend to a few bucks more to go with zzf or newegg.

Newegg fanboy here, only time I don't buy from them is if they're out of stock & not expecting more soon, don't carry something, or on the rare occasion are badly beat by someone else on price. I'd buy groceries from them if I could. The ultra-reliability, superb customer service and fast, cheap shipping via fedex are worth it to me if they're a few bucks more than someplace else - though often they're cheaper. Only good reason I could see not to buy there is if you're in Cali or... is it NJ? The two states you pay them tax in.

Monarch Computer is a good choice too. When you buy a mobo/CPU combo they'll do a 24 hour burn in for you & load most current BIOS, no additional charge. Saves on RMA hassles down the road. Also, sales tax only in Georgia. EDIT: $298 +shipping as of 2/25/05

The DFI board you're looking for is in stock and their CPU prices are frequently some of the best. If you do go with them, I'd wait until Sat. to buy. They seem to drop their price by a few buck on the weekends; I'm not sure why, but I've seen it happen a few times.

www.newegg.com has some of the BEST products as well as customer service. If you are going to shop off of AnAndTech, NewEgg would be best for both purposes.....in my opinion anyhow...and I've done a LOT of online shopping.

To be better aware of who you are buying from, if you have any question, go to www.resellerratings.com and look up the company (or web site). You should also go there and rate the purchases you make from online resellers.....and be honest.

I thought the DFI's on Monarch were backordered till march? Anyway, i've ordered off newegg and monarch and zip zoom fly, all three had great service. ZZF usually has free 2 day shipping to.

I am quite happy with Zipzoomfly - having been screwed by Newegg, I'm not going back; I see no reason to have to anyway, since Zip has better prices on most everything I've been looking at.

ZZF is great, but I hate their site setup. It's fine if you know exactly what you are looking for, but trying to search for products sucks. Of course, I don't think any site can compare to Newegg in that category.

I like ZZF's site setup, it's easy to find exactly what your looking for. Newegg takes too long to search through all their stuff. My personal opinion.

Too long, really? You're not using dial up are you?

I think Newegg has the best layout, since they do a very good job of maintaining the search categories for the various items.

However, their shipping policy is CRAP (put multiple products in one box to ship, but still charge separate shipping on everything), and they play pricing games (like most other sites unfortunately), so I don't use them unless I have to.

ZZF is very nice because they have free 2 day shipping on most things. However, try finding a SCKT 939/754 heatsink using their current categories. They don't have categories for those sockets, so you have to already know what you want in order to find it. Their site needs better organization.

Haven't bought form Monarch, but maybe I should have. I have to pay tax on anything from Newegg or ZZF.

Amazon occasionally has good stuff too, but talk about a crappy layout! It's almost impossible to find anything no that site (at least for me).

-Doh!

I would avoid newegg like the plague. Others seem to have success with them, but whenever I do business with them there are always problems and bad service. I would gladly pay more for any hardware at another store/website than newegg.

Newegg has lost a little shine to me...higher prices than before and they charge shipping on almost EVERYTHING now. Good quick shipping tho, but so does ZZF and their shipping is almost always FREE. Prices may be higher by a buck or two, but beats neweggs price with its FREE shipping. Having said that, I ordered my CPU and mobo from Monarch, my case from SVC, my PSU from Directron and my video card and memory from ZZF. Nothing from Newegg...their shipped prices didn't hold up against the others.
