Video card in my PC died and unfortunately I do not have the luxury of ordering online and waiting for it to arrive, so I'll be headed down the road to BB. http://www.bestbuy.com

This PC is 4+ years old ATM and will be replaced this Fall. Currently it has an XFX GeForce 7900GT in it. I don't really have the time to do my proper research on these cards, which is why I am here. I'm looking to spend about $100, hopefully less unless the extra money provides some really worthwhile levels of improvement over the cheaper models.

I was looking at the Asus GeForce GT430 and the Asus GeForce GT240. I would paste links but I'm pretty sure I have some store locator crap saved in them ATM. I am kinda disappointed that neither has 2 DVI outs, but oh well I guess. I am not interested in looking at ATI cards, but I don't really care about what brand the card as long as I've heard of them before.

Now I open this up to you guys - if you had to get a Nvidia card from BB today in that price range, what would you pick up?

DONT buy a graphics card at BB

Do you have a MC or a frys close by?

Sometimes BB has decent deals but their prices at regular prices are dog crap

MY local microcentre is about 20 bucks above newegg prices. The local BB is about 35-40 above MC (it's crazy)

I don't :( Microcenter is about an hour and a half away and with 3.50$ gallon fuck that. There is an hhgregg but after briefly skimming their website they don't even sell video cards or any PC components.

I did some comparing on these models with newegg's prices and its only about $10 difference (plus newegg had shipping charges so its even less than that). It seems like their prices on these things arent as inflated as they used to be.

15 mos ago gt 240 was running for $29.99 AR for about a month on newegg. no idea what they are now, probably higher with nv's complete lack of lower/midrange offerings these days.

Oh wow.. ! Best Buy ,... I learned my lesson a while ago when I bought a AGP VisionTek 2400 HD card back in January 2009. I paid almost 130.00 for it where microcenter had it for 49.99 ...

What area do you live? Until a year ago, I never heard of Microcenter or Fry's .. and I bought all my computer stuff online.

I found out I live close to 2 Microcenters in the DC area .. I guess Im lucky. Every damn time I go there (about once a week), I spend about 3 hours on average and spend atleast $200 each time.. lol

I just recently went into best buy last week with my 5 year old nephew, and I browsed the PC Component area.. what a joke!! I could not believe the prices and the selection compared to a real PC store..

There has to be a similar shop near you - well atleast we hope

Microcenter is almost 100 miles away. I did just double check CompUSA locations though, and the one that used to be about 25mins away from me that was originally closed looks like it is open again.

I guess I know where I'll be going...

What's the rush? You can get an amazon prime account for $80 and have everything shipped 2 day for free or 4.99 next day. I'd do that and have a card shipped next day. Then you still got the prime account going instead of wasting money at best buy.

Good. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the new Compusa.

Scanned through CompUSA's online prices and looks like I am still in the price range for a GTS450.

The GTX460 cards are starting to creep in a little, but now I'm looking at spending a chunk more than I originally intended and tbh, I'm not sure if the rest of my PC would be bottle necking on something else at that point to justify this...

any input?

If its the microcenter on rockville pike I don't know HOW you can get there every week. I go about once a month and the traffic just kills me. rockville pike during rush hour is just a bad idea.

Really, it depends on your power supply, and if it is as you say, that you'll be upgrading, the GTX460 is a good fit eitherway.
