I'm upgrading form an Athlon 2000 XP+, hopefully to a 2800+ or 3000+. I need to know recommendation on where to buy it, and what type FSB, and other specs I should look too. Thanks alot!

You might also go with the 2500 barton, and run it at 180-200 fsb overclocked. Most will overclock some with or without a voltage boost.

He has a good idea. But is ocing your game or do u just like to play it safe at stock settings?

I do not think that the performance gain from XP2000+ to 2500+ would be enough to make an upgrade now, unless you are intending on OCing, which you said you would not. I would wait until XP3000+ or XP3200+ comes down in price. Newegg's retail price for 3200+ was $187 last time I checked. Also, it is quite likely that the XP2000 runs at 333Mhz effective front side bus. You want to make sure that your motherboard supports 400Mhz FSB before purchasing a Barton core, which the XP2500+(with 512 KB L2 cache) and upward are.

Well what board do you have?

If it is a KT400 board or newwer then get a Athlon XP-Mobile 2400 and set the FSB to 166Mhz and that will get 2.2Ghz really well.
