I'm assuming from your post that you only need the PC itself and OS. Even though HDD prices suck right now, you would be doing yourself a huge disservice by using some crap HDD from 2000.

Here's a build:
http://detonator.dynamitedata.com/c...oduct.aspx?Item=N82E16819115078&Tpk=i3%202100G620 $63 AP - GPU is more important than CPU for gaming
GA-Z68P-DS3 $95 AR
G.Skill DDR3 1333 8gb $30 - How low can it go? :D
http://detonator.dynamitedata.com/c...com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948GTX 560 Ti $200 AR AP
Seagate 500GB $90
Lite-ON DVD Burner $20
XFX 650W $60 AR
Antec Three Hundred $45 AR
Windows 7 HP 64-bit $100
Total: $703 AR AP

Pick up an XPS 8300 with an i5 2300 from Dell Outlet for $469 and throw in a 6870. The XPS has a 420W PSU so it'll handle a 6870.

The build mfenn added is NOT as good as adding a gpu to your build. I would recommend saving up just a hair more so you can get one of the prebuilt systems and then add a 560ti.

If you grab this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...&SID=u00000687

And then add a 560ti
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125401

You would be at 758 dollars however it would be MUCH better to grab this rig.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.755265

Although the one above ^ costs 889.

When you shop for pre-setup parts, its good to make sure you are getting very strong components. This one has much better parts then the other one. For example rosewill power supplys suck.

Now, over all, if you CAN build it yourself you should. We/I can save you A LOT of money setting up this pc yourself and you will get MUCH better parts in the end. But let me know what you wanna do and I will get you the best rig for the cash. Either way, no matter what you have to get a 2500k rig because they are hands down the BEST cpu for gaming for the price. Nothing beats it.

Just as a reminder, the 2500k is VERY comparable to the following chips, 2600k,2700k,3930k,3960x when it comes to gaming. They are all VERY close to each other.

Instead of editing my last post I am making a new one as to not confuse all the links, hope this is allowed.

So if you can build the pc yourself. This is a GREAT option and will be faster then anything else anyone else offers you ;)

Cases are personal preference but this one is cheap and absolutely terrific
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129098

z68xp-ud3 mobo and 2500k combo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.764352

corsair 500watt psu and 8gb ddr3 1600mhz 1.5v ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.761045

Video card/GPU 560 ti 1gb - SPECIFICALLY THIS ONE ONLY
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814162074

Total price in cart BEFORE shipping 734.94 MINUS MAIL IN REBATES = 689.94

Shipping for me was only 14.16 for 3day, so your total will be around 750 - 45 dollars in rebates = 705.

So roughly 700 dollars for a complete build is absolutely baller considering its a 2500k system.

THINGS TO POINT OUT ABOUT THE ABOVE SYSTEM.
1. If you are going to overclock *which you should* you really need to get a better cpu cooler as the stock intel one is not all that great. The hyper 212+ is an amazing cooler that only costs 25.99

2. The above system does not come with an operating system. If you need to purchase one for whatever reason, newegg has windows 7 for 99 dollars.

3. You also need a hard drive with the above system. Now this is something I am telling ALL members currently. Either find a great deal at a store like bestbuy *they just had 1tb drives for 55 dollars* or find a USED hard drive as ALL of the stores online are jacking up the prices due to flooding.

4. If you do grab the hyper 212+ you should also grab some better thermal paste. The hyper 212+ comes with some coolermaster thermal paste that I have not yet tested, however I am a big fan of shin-etsu thermal paste.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835150080

There are other good thermal pastes out there too, but that is the one that I am currently using and I enjoy it :)

Other then those few key points enjoy your new build heh.

Fastamdman, great job posting a bunch of builds that either aren't complete machines or are way over the OP's budget. Don't talk trash unless you can actually back it up with a solid build.

Let's go down the list:
- First: combo + 560 Ti, total cost: $730 AR and is missing an OS license and ODD
- Second: combo + 560 Ti, total cost $870 and is missing an OS license and ODD
- Third: build, total cost $690 AR and is missing an OS license, HDD, and ODD

Better luck next time.

Pretty sure I didn't talk any trash and I am almost positive I posted what he was missing. If he can make those systems work it would be a great rig. I am telling EVERYONE right now to buy hdd's used or find them at BB because online prices are horrible.

I was referring to your statement, "the build mfenn added is NOT as good as adding a gpu to your build." Which is incorrect because it (like your other builds), do not fit within the OP's budget.

I understand that you are new here and trying to be helpful, but spamming the same parts all over the place without taking into account the OP's budget doesn't really help anybody. Sit down and come up with a complete build in a legible format and then you are really contributing.

I saw the word ABOUT in his Original Post for 650-700, thought I was within those prices. I also thought my posting was legible, guess I will re-write it. I am suggesting those parts currently because IMO they are the best PRICE to Performance ratio thats out right now that fits my "fanboyism" tactics. I hate asrock and will never recommend them no matter what <3

Edit: My bad if I was above budget :)

Edit2: OP do you need an OS and could you get a HDD from a store that has reasonable pricing?

It is important to read the whole thread before replying. He said in a later post, "im trying to spend 700 or less it doesnt have to be the greatest as long as i can upgrade it in the future Thanks guys!!".

As for being a fanboy, you might as well stop that if you want to last long here. :D

Ah I must have missed that post heh. Thanks though I will change my ideology and see what I can come up with for him.

I am only a fanboy of the fastest / best price to performance things. However I am bias against certain manufacturers and that wont change lol.

Do all the XPS 8300s have a 420 watt power supply? And do they have the 6 pin connector needed for the 6870? I have seen some XPS 8300s in Best buy also, but they are more expensive than the outlet machines.

Are the Dell outlet machines brand new or are they refurbished, scratch/dent, etc. I might have to check some of these out.

per the tech specs the current xps 8300 has a 460 watt supply
http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8300/pd

the fact that they sell it with either a 560ti or a 6870 tells me it can accept those cards without issue.

You definitely don't want to use XP on a new build at this point.

The Dell + 6870 is very good bang for your buck. The GPU is slightly slower than the GTX 560 Ti, but the fact that it has an i5 balances that out somewhat.

I'd say to go for the Dell as the first choice. I may be a little biased, but if you feel like you really want to build it, then my build is a good second choice.

Cool thanks guys!! im gonna get the dell then :) and is there a reason to get the 2300 or is it just because its cheaper? I could pay a little more and get the 2400 which is 3.1ghz but idk maybe theres no point to? and will the card i posted fit in the dell and is there a better brand or anything?

If you are in college then you can most likely get Windows 7 Pro for free from your tech store. Be sure to check that out before jumping on anything as that can free up a lot of funds for a custom build.

Subyman makes a good point. Colleges usually have steep discounts on O/S for their students. Any student looking for a O/S should check out their bookstore for these great prices. Also, if you know someone that is in school they can buy the O/S for you.

Yeah the card will fit. Don't worry about i5 2300 vs. i5 2400, the difference is too minor to worry about.
