Looking for a new card in the 150 to 170 price range, Any suggestions?

Here is a 9800 pro for $155 shipped. I can't vouch for the retailer, but it seems like the card is brand new and in limited stock. That, and it's not the 128bit version. This would be a good option, or the 5900XT listed above.

Ive never seen that vendor in my life. I wouldnt reccomend buying from a vendor that could potentially be shady. On the BBB site, they have no record of their site. I wouldnt reccomend this vendor at all.

isn't the 9800p a faster card with more DX9 functionality?

My family's computer has a VisionTek GeForce2 Ti card in it and it's running fine. They no longer produce nVidia boards and have moved on the ATi boards. I believe they almost went out of business but was bought by another company. Their cards generally closely follow the reference designs given to them by the manufacturer. If it's still avaiable, then it would be a good deal for a 9800 for about $150.

J&R is reputable vendor. They sell on Amazon also. Very good deal on a new 9800 Pro.

Yea (DX9 functionality and/or performance)

Which puzzles me on why it's being recommended.

I think this used to be called J&R Music World back in the 80s. Bought my first real home stereo there. IIRC, good service, but that was 20+ years ago.
