Buying my first PC since college

So I'm way way out of the loop in the world of desktops. Not that I know any more about laptops but I'm not as educated these days on computers as I was back in college.

So what advice can you give me in regards to buying a desktop? Is AMD still considered "second best" to Intel?

Thanks guys

Build your own. Go for Sandybridge. At the MSRP listed, it's got speed alright...

If you're on a tighter budget, AMD would be way to go. Just fill out the sticky on the top of the topic list and we can give you suggestions 🙂.

Listen to the Donut. 😛 Answer the questions from the sticky, and we will get a build going.

Also depends on what kind of CPU you're looking for. If you need a hexacore processor, the cheapest option would be AMD's offering. Otherwise you're looking at over $900 for the i7-980x from Intel.

But as the others have said, depends on what you are going to use it for
