buying mk4 supra?

anyone who keeps up, knows mk4 supras cost and arm, leg and testicle. I've seen a handful of earlier 90s, 40k-60k miles for 25Gs and thinking about just biting the bullet and buying one. They say FnF caused the prices to shoot up, but it's been 5+ years since the movie and prices not coming down. One thing is if toyo makes an mk5 supra, this might bring prices down a bit, but I doubt any future car will be as overbuilt as the mk4.

Thought alot about buying a new car (G35, evo, etc.), but they're all kind of meh. If I'm gonna do this at all, i'd rather get a car with more staying power.

I love that car but I just couldn't justify the exorbitant going prices...would you mod it out or keep it stock? TT or N/A?

That's just too much for a used car that's been beat up on by the previous owners. Even one as gorgeous as the mk4. If you've got 25k to blow on a car, look at GTOs or Cobras or WRXs or something.

TT of course, light mods, increased boost and stuff, but nothing I can't easily put back. Keep the stock turbos. It will probably be auto, manuals seem to command more, but I don't mind auto.

You want to buy a 10+ year old non collectible, run-of-the-mill japanese sports car for $25 thousand? Does your mother know about this?

I was going to do the exact same thing. I even made a thread about it here, heh. All the ones I found that I could start to afford had elevendybillion miles on them or were crappy poser NA versions. I got frustrated looking for a good one, and gave up - at least for now - although I'm not ruling it out for the future.

I'm hoping Toyota makes a new Supra, and FF3 comes out featuring that one, so all the ricers flock to that instead - leaving the MKIVs alone so I can get one. 😀

In the meantime, I decided to do a 383 in my old Trans Am instead.

FF3 will be about... what else... drifting.

So it'll probably be full of these cars they badge as Silvias, even though they're registered as 240SX. 😛

Ironically, the top 3 spots in Formula D championship was taken by domestic cars.

Absolutely?

Both are RWD, 2+2 sporty 2-door coupes. Both can be built to insane hp / torque levels, although they do differ in the way most of the power is traditionally made (displacement vs FI). Both have a very strong aftermarket and tuning community. I like the looks and handling characteristics of both cars.

Obviously the two are at quite different price points - I purchased the Trans Am when I was in college, and it was all I could afford that I liked. Now that I have lots more disposable income, I'm looking at cars in a significantly higher price bracket. Given everything I've listed above, why would it be surprising that I'm looking at Supras?

I buy what appeals to me, I don't give a $hit who makes it.
