Buying/Leasing New: 550i XDrive/M56x or wait for Audi S6?

As my S6 ticked over 50k miles yesterday and has started to 'feel' like a car that been driven hard and is generally used, I decided it was time to buy something new. I have been toying with the idea for a few months now but keep pushing the idea off, being that the new 2013 S6 isn't out yet and won't be until October according to my dealer.

My budget is around $80k and I the car needs to have AWD. If I didn't live in MN I would be in a Jag in a second.

BMW 550i XDrive:

Pros: Feels fast, can easily be tuned to get more HP out.
I actually like the look, I know most don't.
Interior is nice but not as nice as the Audi or Infiniti
Free maintenance.
Cons: My wife absolutely hates BMW's and BMW drivers, buying the car is a hard sell.
The run-flat tires have problems and in MN we don't have the best roads.

Infiniti M56x:

Pros: imo, best interior in the class.
Big back seat.
Cons: Feels big and not sporty.

Audi S6:

Pros: If like the A6, voted best in class interior.
I already have an Audi and know the service people well.
Cons: No idea on price. "Probably $10k more than a similarly equipped A6"
No idea on release date.
First model year of new release.
Maintenance cost are high on my current S6.

Comments appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If this was NASIOC the appropriate reply would be "white people problems" or 1%'er problems 😛

That said, get the BMW, take European Delivery (7% discount) and ditch the run flat tires.

Hmm weird.

Don't cars usually feel better in the 40-70K mile range? letting the engine break in? thought I read that somewhere...

Wind noise is much worse.

Car doesn't feel as tight as it once did, etc.

Engine is fine, brakes are fine (they are the third set, so they should be.)

Not sure buying a car to run it for $50K is a wise financial move for anyone. Why not lease it and get a new car every few years since you have money to burn...

I actually more than likely will lease the car.

The tax benefits sans the annual inclusion make it appear to be a better choice based on the number of miles I drive.

Thread title changed to reflect this.

I would go for the 550i of the three you listed. Its the complete package if your buying/leasing soon.

The Lexus is intriguing but may not be worth waiting for since there will be zero deals on those for a year or two if demand is where its gonna probably be.

Or just buy a aftermarket warranty and keep what ya got.

I have an extended warranty that I bought through Audi. Provides the same service that they offer.

My father just purchased a GS 350 F. Puts that off limits.

I agree with you on the 550i, all the reports on the tires and bent rims scare me though.

and no spare tire well if you decide to go for regular tires...

2013 Lexus GS is one of the most beautiful cars I've seen in years... that front bumper is meaaaan.

Considered a 4matic benz? I had a E350 as a rental a few weeks ago and really liked it (only drive it a total of about 200 miles in 5 days though)...

You mean it looks like someone sneezed and thought it would be a good idea? Its the same old shit from the same old boring Lexus. Except slightly tarted up this time to fool their user base into thinking they are "hip" now.

2013 S6, gorgeous car.

I'd love the 2013 S6 Avant or F11 M5 Wagon. Sadly, neither are headed to the US.

i think the GS looks pretty good. whether it will translate into something comparable to an S6 or other sported up luxury sedan is a different story 😛

Sorry for being a bit off topic but I've been meaning to ask...if German cars carry a premium price and are built supposedly so well from such nice materials (auto journalists salivate over soft-touch surfaces), why do they have such a generally poor reputation for reliability and ridiculous repair costs? Aren't expensive products supposed to last?

I just looked at the OP and it's too bad you already struck Jaguar off your list because I think the XF is far and away the best looking car in its class (again, there's a car everyone says should be leased because of reliability...why?)

Considering the OP lives in Minnesota winters would be horrible for the batteries. They probably won't work as well and they definitely would be drained much faster by the heater. Electric is not the way to go in cold climates.

Seriously, a suggestion of a G37 when the OP is considering a top of the range 5-series and S6?
