cliff notes: what are the chances of having dead pixels from shipping from an online retailer? would you or have you and what were your expierences?

my friend needs to buy a monitor and he decides he wants to go lcd. i was always skeptical about buying an lcd (being such a fragile piece of equipment at its cost) through an online retailer like newegg so i got a deal off frys for my nec lcd over the summer. obviously, prices are cheaper in most instances and there is a larger variety of monitors online, but we are worried about dead pixels upon arrival, and neweggs policy is like 8 dead pixels for replacement (imo i think 1 dead pixel is too much). we want to avoid that situation (dead pixels/rma) but what are the chances of receiving dead pixels from shipping?

btw, this is my first post =P ive been reading AT forums for half a year now

edit: sorry of its in the wrong forum (mayb OT) but it does talk about dead pixels and shipping =P

problem is, if/when you do get them..... now you get to pay shipping back (through MOST online places)

at least in the store you can sometimes open it up there and check it before you buy

however, probablility is the same as buyin in a store.... online doesnt get better or worse stock products
