Okay, I've been with Paypal for awhile, but I've never bothered to really look at it too closely to see how they handle it when someone gets ripped off. I'm looking to buy a Nintendo Wii from somebody in Canada. The guy want to use Paypal to do the transaction. I've never met the guy, so I'm wondering how paypal would help me if it turned out to be bogus.

Has anybody ever encountered a situation where you got ripped off and had to deal with paypal to settle it?

Good idea / Bad idea?

So you normally meet every single person you buy stuff off of and use Paypal? Doesn't that defy the point of Paypal? If you actually meet people, 99.9% prefer cash.

The only thing paypall does for you is, refund money if the seller can't provide a tracking number.

Ah, thanks guys. The guy came back with a pretty high price on it, so I'm going to pass. I thought he'd offer it for around cost +10%. Thanks for the info - now I know what to do next time.

Ask him for feedback...I usually go by that. Also if he'll provide you with a phone number call him and talk to him. Most people can screen out dishonest people within a few seconds of talking to them. Good luck.

I bought something off paypal. Never recieved item and filed a complaint. I wont the complaint but by then the seller had withdrawn al lthe money and paypal has no ability to go in your bank account so I never gto a dime back. I never ever ever use paypal anymore.
