Buying hardware tonight...Picked out Ram and GPU...any input on mobo/HDD/PSU/CPU???

I am doing a budget gaming build and have this picked out so far:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.559967

175 after MIR for a 1gb 460 and 4gb's of Gskill ripjaws DDR3 seems pretty cheap to me!

So..trying to find a cheap but decent looking/flowing case, a PSU (500w?)
A CPU...Prefer AMD quad core.
HDD (between 500mb and 1gb, prefer reliability over total storage)
mobo to bring it all together.

Looking for total to be spent around 500-600

I am trying to order everything tonight as it seems like the sales are decent (and if something is not on sale I have no problem waiting to see what turns up for "cyber monday")
I have been trying to check the usual spots but im sure im missing some good deals.
Thanks!!

This includes a PSU that people are claiming is pretty reliable...??

"Buying hardware tonight..."

It would have been nice to have had a little more notice.
I hope your components work out ok for you.

I mean to put over the weekend...sorry I had a bit too much fun juice over this weekend.

I still cannot find what is going on for "cyber monday" but it does not seem like much of anything exciting. I think I iwll hold off till tomorrow and if nothing pops up better then Mfenn's modified list from my previous thread (thanks btw) I will pull the trigger on that.

Thanks again

I just put together my lastest PII X4 965 on the Gigabyte 890FX-5UD. Seems like a very good board, that has all the bells and whistles you'd want (SATA600, USB 3) and a good layout.

As for case - that's highly subjective, but IMO Fractal Define R3 is the best looking case out there right now (if you can live without a HDD led - have to admit it does bug me one in a while that it's missing).

UD5 + $500 Budget = ...Does not Compute...

No problem. 🙂 I'd like to point out that that RAM + GPU combo is ridiculously good (Thanks DominionSeraph!) so no telling how long it will be around.

I bought everything but the CPU and Mobo (as they are not really on sale right now).

I am hoping I can find a good deal on either a combo or piece together individually a 3.0+ AMD quad core and whatever Mobo will work with it for Cyber Monday!!

Thanks for the help so far. Any other good sites besides the egg to check prices? I have used 3btech before but nothing really other than that.

cyber monday looks like a joke...unless im missing something?

Anyone see any good deals on an AMD quad core or a mobo (maybe combo?)

I think that the combo that I linked above is still pretty good. This 925 + 790X combo is a bit cheaper, but you lose USB 3.0 and the CPUs are fairly close in speed.

That combo does seem like a good deal...I will just pick that up (the original one you linked, the 3.0 amd and 3.0 USB).

Any small bits I should buy while im doing a newegg order?

Are there some "DUH" parts I will not be receiving in the boxes that I will need for assembly?

Are CPU manufacturers still skimping on the thermal paste? I remember last time I built with an Intel there was not even enough paste to cover the entire CPU!

Sata cables?

Connectors?

The board only comes with one SATA cable, so you will need another. You shouldn't need anything else.

Regarding the thermal paste, the most common mistake that people make is applying too much. The thermal pad preapplied to the bottom of the retail HSF is 100% sufficient.
