Buying C2D E4300, need MOBO

I know this is in the search, but it is hard to find a specialized opinion about my setup.

Looks like I'm going to jump on that hot deal of 2GB DDR2 PC5400 RAM.

I am going to get an E4300 and plan to OC to the maximum RAM settings and go 9*333 to get a 3.0 OC.

I doubt I will go past that and try to OC the RAM. Now I need a MOBO to go with it. I see the Gigabyte S3 or something is popular as well as the P5B-D/E MOBO.

Which would be the best by for my setup and what are the general prices. Any other options than these that I listed?

I wish someone would post definitive requirements a motherboard must have to support this CPU given people buying this processor ahead of the motherboard and others buying it in a frenzy only to find out it won't work in their motherboard followed by a search for a new motherboard that does.

yeah, I search but I can't find anything conclusive about which MOBO is best, and which is best for what I need. I just need something that will allow me a modest OC and supports the chip and RAM. I will have 1 IDE HDD and a DVD burner...along with 1 SATA HDD. Not going to run any RAIDs. Just something that will let me OC this CPU to around 3.0

EDIT: Also, I have this power supply right now Power Supply...can someone tell me if this will work with my setup. I don't expect it to, but am not sure.

12v rail - 18a seems a little weak.
You can get something better for just a slight bump in price.

I have never heard of a brand like that.

Try xtremesystems.org. They have a recommended power supply list.

I have heard that the e4300 works on the DS3 motherboards but I can't be too sure about that.

I do believe I have heard that e4300 does nto work on the ECS boards they come shipped with in that stupid FRY's deal. lol

ok, thanks, it may only be a slight bump in price, but this is the PSU I already have from my current system. So keeping it would save a good little bit.

I'm trying to decide between the P5B-E and the DS3

I can get an OEM P5B-E for the same price as the retail DS3. What are the differences and is it worth it to get the more expensive one? I don't think I need anything that comes with retail so OEM might be the way to go.

Which is the better board for the E4300? Just want a stable board that will allow a modest OC.

OP, why did you choose E4300 instead of E6300? I see very little price difference. Just wondering.

I got it from microcenter for $169 shipped.

The reason I picked it is because I can get to 3.0 clock speeds with a much cheaper RAM than the 6300.

The deal in the hot deals section for 2GB of DDR2RAM for $130 shipped was the dealbreaker. If I got that RAM I would have to get the 4300 for OC purposes.

So basically, I saved around $70 on RAM by getting the 4300.
