Buying an LCD, Viewsonic VP171B--retailers w/good dead pixel policies?

Hey all,
All right...more LCD questions...yay. I'm 80% settled on the Viewsonic VP171B right now. Newegg, Amazon, and Dell all have good prices on this panel. However, it would seem as if Newegg's pixel policy sucks...8? ouch.

Dell has the 100% satisfaction, money back guarantee...BUT does it cover non-Dell products?? Dell sells the Viewsonics, but it's certainly not a Dell product.

Also, Amazon seems to be willing to replace "defective" products for the first 30 days...it doesn't define defective, so I assume dead pixels count? Anyone have firsthand experience?

And I know MonitorsDirect has a good policy...but they don't have the monitor I want 🙁 Of course if this proves to be horribly problematic, I might go for the Samsung 172X.

So uh...does anyone have experience replacing monitors w/dead pixels from Dell, Amazon, or Newegg? Was the experience satisfactory? Did you pay return shipping? And lastly, are there other resellers I should be looking at?

Thanks!

I've read of excellent monitor-purchasing experiences with Dell. Their return policy is supposed to be very good.

Dell has 30 days 100% satisfaction return policy on all products they sell including other company brands. Their order tracking could use lot of work but items are usually delivered very fast.

Wow, that's really cool...looks like I'm definitely going to buy from Dell. I emailed their customer service, and they said I could return in the first 21 days...and they'd cover return shipping too! Man...that's so great--definitely willing to pay about 40 extra from Dell...probably less if I wait for a coupon.

Thanks for the replies y'all...reinforcing the buying from dell idea 🙂

Can't help ya on the returns/policy. However, I purchased the same monitor from Dell. I'm very please! Warranty is now with Viewsonic for 3 years.

 Nice monitor, just wish it was bigger (boy do I hear that alot) 😱

haha, that's cool 🙂 17" should be big enough for me...I'm on a 17" (16 viewable) CRT right now, running 1280x1024, size-wise it's A-OK. So yeah...17" is certainly a step up 🙂
