Buying a Sun 21in Monitor?

I can get a good condition Sun Microsystems 21in monitor for $250. Is this a good deal for a 21in monitor which has a Sony Trinitron tube?

Be aware that Sun monitors have a strange looking plug on the end of the cord and you are going to have to find an adapter.
 
Price is cool, but most Sun systems use proprietary connectors and finding an adapter can be pain! (and expensive). Some have also BNC connectors, but check first what connectors the monitor uses!

Careful when buying monitors for Unix workstations, some of them are fixed frequency and won't work with standard PC video cards. I am not sure if this applies to the one you are purchasing. It's just an issue that wouldn't even occur to most PC users. This is more tha case with older monitors than newer ones, but still applies to some newer ones.

[Edit: Basically, everyone I know who has gotten their hands on a Sun 21" monitor -- even free, they have always ended up in a closet or passed to someone else.]
 
Just got a refurbished Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2040u 22" flatscreen for $195 at a local show. After setting it up I have decided it was well worth it. Not that that has anything to do with Sun monitors.
 
I have to put myself into the closet camp. I picked up a Sun color monitor, it was about a year ago, and it was less than a year old, but it was fixed frequency and of no use on a PC. It was free, so I passed it along to a friend that has a Sun workstation, and he's happy as a clam. 🙂
 
Well here are the specs on the one I am buying, I dont' believe that it is fixed frequence and it looks like it has the optional PC video card connector.

Sun 21-inch FD Premium Color Monitor
X7136A or 365-1399
Model: GDM-5410 (sony)
Has both 13w3 and 15pin port option

Do the caveats apply to this monitor as well?

This page says Multi-Frequency (I don't know if that is multiscan or a more marketable name for fixed frequency).
