I was thinking more along the lines of something like you see on "World's Scariest Police Chases". Have one guy fleeing on a Segway with three cop Segways pursuing. Eventually, the fleeing guy runs off an embankment or into a tree....or both!

Walking is much healthier. Most of US is obese/overweight. The Segway in public hands would be an avenue for making this nation's health problems worse.

Segways can be usefull however, if you are in a large manufacturing plant, and have to get from point A to point B very quickly.

Not unless it can take me to Fresno in a very reasonable amount of time. The town I live in makes even Fresno seem like a vibrant, interesting place to be.
