My experience says Big Risk
If it don't work right, then what ???
Will seller pay you to ship back..????

But then you might be the lucky guy, I'm not.
So good luck...........

bought a 17" Sony G200 for $60 on eBay 2 years ago. Still working great. :)

I do agree that its luck of the draw and shipping is always scary for big monitors.

I bought a 21" CRT refurb a year and a half ago for $200 on e-bay.

the monitor was DOA. the seller agreed to take it back, but the shipping was on me, and I didn't have a box to return it in. I had to bend over and take it. pretty crappy experience.

I've bought a few LCD monitors from eBay without hassle, but those are obviously lighter and alot more "ship-friendly" than a CRT, especially a heavy 21"

If they offer return shipping on bad monitors though, it may be worth it.

Hi, i bought my 21" CRT from a local computer expo for $137 bucks. i've had it for a couple of years now and it is rock solid. the picture is absolutely flawless. i'd be very precautious making ANY transaction on ebay though.

Get the IBM P275 refurb from azatek.com
If anything goes wrong, you still have IBM's unbeatable warranty service. They will replace the monitor immediately and pay for any shipping charges for you to return the monitor. They also send Fedex to your house to pick it up so you don't have to stuff it in your small car and ship it yourself.

Make sure the seller ships it in the original box, or has some clue on how to effectively pack a crt. Poorly packed crt is almost guaranteed to come to you broken and insurance agents are keen to spot crappy packaging and deny a claim.

You can find one cheaper from AT. I bought a 19" KDS CRT for $105, which included it getting to me. Oh and might I add that it was NIB.

I was gonna buy a refurb 24 inch Sony widescreen at a comp show for $400.. It's a beautiful monitor with USB ports on the base. Originally they were like 1500-2k monitors. So the guy has some football game on dreamcast playing on it and it looks ok. I have him hook up a computer to see how it looks and in 1024 it looks fine.. I bump up the resolution to 1600 and it looks like crap. So the guy connects the other 24 inch sony he had and in 1600 it looked fine, the only problem was the screen had 2 inch scratch across it and the outer casing of the monitor was a bit damaged.. So unfortunately I am still looking for a monitor :(
