I am shopping for a new notebook for my sister for college... She will need ability to do some possible video editing (nothing extreme). The notebook market is confussing to me, so I thought I'd ask for some direction from the pros.

She says the most prevalent brand on campus is Apple... they are nice, but look expensive... and only offer 1yr warranties.

I'm a PC guy, so I've been looking at Dell, Toshiba, Sony (too expensive I think), Asus, and Cyberpower PC.

The config I'm looking at is:

Pentium M (I haven't found a lot of AMD Mobiles)
1G Ram (or 512MB with a free dimm slot to upg later)
64MB video (at least)
60G HD (at least)
Wireless networking

I'm trying to keep this under $1500...

I guess I'm looking for recommendations on brand...
I can get a powerhouse AMD64 for $1300 at Cyberpower, but they only have a 1yr warr... should I even consider an off-brand like them? I've heard great things about their Desktops and support.

I'm just a bit overwhelmed with the options.

Thanks for the opinions.

I just bought an iBook for a little over $1200 w/ wireless and 512MB of ram. Works like a charm, and if it werent for my accountant using quickbooks on his PC, i would get a mac mini.
