buying a new mobo for Athlon's, will my PC100 ram work on it?

Only if you are using a 100mghz bus athlon or duron cpu. You can"t set the mem bus slower than the cpu bus.

will it work with a athlon xp 2000? (not sure what the bus is on that....) also what is the recommended power supply for an athlon 2000 system? 350w? 300w? thanks again

Sorry, Hammyton, that PC100 RAM is useless if you are upgrading to a XP 2000+. While I am not very familiar with the AMD route, I think you would need a minimum of PC2100 memory. While its pricey, I'd recommend PC3200 from Corsair.

The thing to remember with power supplies, is not to get some cheap off-brand - Don't skimp on the PS. Depending on how many devices (drives, cards, fans, etc.) you have will determine how much juice you need. If you are running the minimum amount of devices, then you could probably get by with a 300W PSU. However, if you buying it new, I'd just go ahead and spend the extra $$$ for the 350W and not worry about it....

Not if it's pc66 cas 2 running at pc100 cas 3. You can use your pc-100 but you'll have to see if it'll run at 133mhz. Otherwise you'll just be crippling the system more than it already is. Will have to use a 100mhz fsb instead of 133mhz. You can either get ddr ram or get a 100mhz fsb cpu. I would just go for a ddr board with a 1600xp. Should be better than a 2000xp running sdr.

Hmmm...
I saw in Best Buy ads recently 256MB Crucial PC2100 for $35 after rebate and 256MB PC133 for $9.99 after rebate. It would seem to me no one needs to use PC100 anymore.

Like hell it is. I tried running PC100 ram at 133mghz and would barely post and wouldn't run windows for more than a few minutes before crashing.

Either get PC 133 ram or step up to DDR.

That is the best advice.
